WINTER WORKSHOPS 2012

Exciting Collaborative Drama Workshops starting up again soon! In these classes the kids create their own characters and have voice in what happens on stage – they work together to create dynamic physical performances which they are proud and excited to be a part of.

 

Mondays 4 to 5pm ‘Nonsense Poetry’- a 10 week workshop series where we explore the works of poets such as Shel Silverstein, Spike Milligan and Edward Lear….and then make up our own! For 4 to 8 year olds, leading to a performance at the beginning of April (date to be confirmed). Cost $250

 

Tuesdays 4 to 5:30pm ‘A Dream Play’- a 12 week workshop series for 7 to 10 year olds where they tell stories about their dreams and create amazing sketches and movement pieces. Leading to a performance in the middle of April (date to be confirmed). Cost $300

 

Wednesdays 3:30 to 4:30pm – ‘Improv’  – 10 weeks of hilarity for 6 to 10 year olds with optional spontaneous performance opportunities in April. Cost $15 per class or $125 for the series.

 

 “NEW”!!! For 11 to 14 year olds – ‘Running Away’ – an 11 week series of workshops to include writing, improv, acting and character work leading to short scene performances. Wednesdays 5 to 6:30pm. Cost $250.

All classes begin the week of September 12th.
Mondays 4 to 5pm ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ – a 10 week workshop series  for 4 to 8 year olds, leading to a performance at the beginning of December (date to be confirmed). Cost $250
Tuesdays 4 to 5:30pm ‘A Winter Play’  – a 12 week workshop series for 7 to 10 year olds leading to a performance in the middle of December (date to be confirmed). Cost $300

Summer Camp! Poetry, Masks and Puppets!

Hip Hip Hooray!

Camp begins Monday June 20th and ends with an informal recital for friends and family at The Electric Lodge on Friday July 29th.

Kids can come for a day or a week at a time or do the whole camp. Monday through Friday 10am to 4pm…extended hours available at a $10 hourly rate. Anyone who does a week or more can participate in the recital -  everyone will be invited to attend.

Themes:
WEEKS 1 & 2 (June 20 through July 1) – Nonsense poetry – we will look at the works of Shel Silverstein, Edward Lear and Spike Milligan…and then get creative writing and performing our own! Guest teacher and poetry expert Gina Gambill will be facilitating workshops during this session.
WEEKS 2 & 3 (July 5 (no camp on the 4th) through July 15) Shadow Puppetry – we will make our own shadow puppets and with a screen and some flashlights, we’ll create short scenes from our inspirations. Guest artist Angi Neff will be assisting during this session.
WEEKS 4 & 5 ( July 18th through 29th) Mask Making – here will enter the wonderful world of masks and explore different ways of making them – from paper mache to decorative eye masks to wear to a grand masquerade! Guest teacher Brian Powell, expert in mask making and Commedia del’Arte will facilitate workshops during this sesssion.

In addition to these themes we will go to the beach….on scooters, play improv games, have picnics in the park, do a bit of gardening, make ice-cream sundaes (on Tuesday), and bake our own pizzas on Wednesdays, and have a grand old summer time.
